Kwangwoon Center for Korean Language and Culture(KCKLC) has made a new leap forward in 2012 to become an educational institution integrating Korean language and culture based on the experience and achievements in Korean language education, which the Korean program in the Language Education Institute has accumulated for 8 years since 2003.

The education provided by KCKLC facilitates the acquisition of not only linguistic knowledge but also various communicative strategies so that foreigners can perform practical and creative Korean language ability in a variety of situations. In addition, activities which integrate Korean language lessons with various cultural contents cultivate language skills in conjunction with cultural knowledge.

KCKLC welcomes students with diverse purposes including not only foreigners who come to Korea for Korean language training but also immigrants in Korea as well as travellers who are visiting Korea for short period of time. You are invited to learn Korean by experiencing both traditional and popular culture of Korea.



KCKLC is where students can achieve the best effect at the lowest cost.

1. A special intensive program is offered for students to complete 1,200 hours from beginner to advanced level in one year.

2. Korean language classes are integrated with both traditional and contemporary Korean cultural contents.

3. Students can have various as well as vivid experiences of Korean culture through activities every afternoon and extracurricular activities on Fridays rather than just one or two cultural experience opportunities in one semester.

4. A Buddy system is offered for students to participate in a variety of activities with Kwangwoon University students.

5. Advisers assigned at the time of admission guide students until completion.


Intensive Program

The Intensive Program is consisted of six levels from level 1 to 6. In the Intensive Program,

• A total of 200 hours of lesson are provided, 5 hours per day for 8 weeks, and students can complete six terms in one year.

• students can cultivate the creative use of Korean as they participate in various activities in authentic situations every day.

• students can experience a variety of Korean culture every week including taekwondo, traditional percussion quartet, K-pop, and dance.

Education of Korean traditional and popular culture in the individually selected programs

※ Extracurricular activities on Fridays consist of experiences in traditional culture such as taekwondo, calligraphy, and cooking as well as in popular culture such as songs(K-POP), dances, dramas, and movies.

※ There is no group-based cultural experiences outside the center. When the center announces information on cultural events each week, students can choose what they want and participate in the events after making reservations. If there are events suitable for students, the KCKLC office may recruit students who wish to participate and make reservations on behalf of them.



Students can choose to register for varied terms from 4 weeks to 1 year.

① 1 term (8 weeks): KRW 1,300,000

② Half term (4 weeks): KRW 700,000

※ Expenses for cultural experiences are not included.



Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. But, applications from China and Mongolia are processed once every term.



The Intensive Program begins its first term in September and runs a total of 6 terms until August of the following year. There are one-week vacations between terms or during major holidays. There is no long vacations.

Application Documents


(1) For new applicants from abroad

- Application form, a statement of purpose (must be downloaded, and written and signed by the applicant)

- 3 passport photos

- 1 copy of passport

- 1 copy of identification of the applicant and his/her family

- 1 copy of the applicant's household registration record (Relevant to the applicants of Chinese nationality only if the applicant's guardian is not his/her parent, a notarized document proving the relative relationship must be submitted.)

- Proof of Graduation from the last school attended

ⅰ) Relevant country : Philippines, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Mongolia,

   Thailand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, India, Myanmar, Nepal , Iran, Uzbekistan,

   Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt, Peru.

   : After notarizing Diplomas and Certificates of Graduation from the last school

    attended and then you should confirm to consular representative at the consular office.

ⅱ) Other Country : 1 official certificate of graduation from the most recent school attended

- 1 official academic transcript from the most recent school attended

- 1 copy for each of the parent's certificate of employment/certificate of income (must include the name, address, and contact information of the company)

- Financial documents (bank statement under the applicant's name if it is under the parent's name, a notarized certificate of relative relationship required) - Over USD 10,000 - Over CNY(RMB) 70,000- Over KRW(WON) 12,000,000 * If the applicant is of Chinese nationality, the expiration date of the balance should remain unchanged until the third term.
